The 1890 & 1900 United States Censuses

 

1890 Census

The census was taken as at 2 June 1890. Most of the schedules were damaged or destroyed in a fire in 1921 and almost all of the remainder destroyed by order of Congress in the 1930s. 

However, a special census was also taken of veterans or widows of veterans from the Civil War (Union side only) and War of 1812 who were still living and collecting pensions in 1890 and survives for states in the alphabetical range Kentucky to Wyoming. The only Howcott recorded in this source is Miles Howcott at Plymouth, North Carolina.
