Mary Ann, then aged about 52, was the widow of Henry Howcutt (1854-1886). She was still alive in 1901 as her death was registered in 1919. Her daughters, who also should have been recorded in 1901, were:

William, then aged 22, was in South Africa at the time of the Boer War and presumably missed the 1901 census for that reason.
